FRUITY PUTTY
1 small package sugar-free fruit-flavored gelatin 2 cups flour 1 cup salt 4 tablespoons cream of tartar 2 cups boiling water 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Mix the dry ingredients in a pan. Add boiling water and vegetable oil. Stir over medium-high heat until the mixture forms a ball. Place the ball on wax paper to cool. Store in an airtight container.
Cut the fruit picture from the gelatin box and paste it to the lid. Use different flavors to make all different colors and scents.
APPLESAUCE CINNAMON DOUGH
1 cup ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground cloves 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg 3/4 cup applesauce (drained in a strainer for several hours) 2 teaspoons white glue
This dough is not for eating! Mix together the cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Add the applesauce and glue. Work the mixture with hands until smooth and well mixed. Put on wire rack to dry at room temperature for several days.
CLOUD DOUGH
3 cups flour 2 tablespoons powdered Tempera 1/2 cup vegetable oil Water
Mix together the flour, Tempera and oil. Add enough water to make a soft, pliable, elastic-like dough. This dough does not keep well.
COFFEE GROUNDS DOUGH
2 cups used, dry coffee grounds 1/2 cup salt 1 1/2 cups cornmeal Warm water
Mix dry ingredients together. Add enough warm water to moisten.
This dough has a unique texture and is good to roll, pat and pound
COLORED PLAY DOUGH
1 cup flour 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 cup water 1/2 cup salt 2 teaspoons cream of tartar Food coloring
Mix all ingredients in saucepan. Heat, stirring constantly until ball forms. Knead until smooth.
CRUNCHY DOUGH
1 shredded wheat biscuit 2 tablespoons glue Food coloring (optional)
Crumble the biscuit into a bowl. Add the glue and food coloring, if desired. Mix the ingredients together until the cereal is completely coated. Makes enough dough for one child.
Objects made with Crunchy Dough will air dry in about 12 hours.
EDIBLE PLAY DOUGH
1/3 cup margarine 1/3 cup light corn syrup 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 2 pounds confectioners sugar Food coloring
Mix all ingredients together. Make shapes, then eat. This dough can be refrigerated in a plastic bag or bowl.
FLAVORED PLAY DOUGH
Keep it in a plastic container with a lid between uses, and it lasts forever.
1 cup sifted flour 1/2 cup salt 3 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 small package unsweetened powdered drink mix or Kool-Aid 1 cup boiling water
Mix flour, salt, oil and drink mix or Kool-Aid®. Add boiling water. Stir together; knead mixture until it forms a soft dough.
FROSTING DOUGH
1 can cake frosting 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar 1 cup peanut butter Spoon Bowl
Mix all ingredients in the bowl with the spoon. Knead into a workable dough. Model as with any dough.
GINGERBREAD PLAY DOUGH
1 cup flour 1/2 cup salt 2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 cup water 1 teaspoon vegetable oil Ground cinnamon Ground ginger
Mix all ingredients and cook in a heavy saucepan over medium heat while stirring frequently. When it begins to pull away from the sides of the pan, remove from the heat and knead until smooth. Store in an air tight container.
GLITTER PLAY DOUGH
1 cup flour 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 cup water 1/2 cup salt 2 teaspoons cream of tartar Food coloring Glitter
Mix all ingredients except glitter. Mix all ingredients in a saucepan and heat, stirring constantly, until it forms a ball. Remove from pot, add glitter and knead until smooth. Glitter play dough will be good for several weeks stored in a tightly sealed container at room temperature. Do not refrigerate.
HONEY PEANUT BUTTER DOUGH
1 cup peanut butter 1 cup honey 2 cups powdered milk
Mix the ingredients in a bowl. With clean hands, knead until smooth. Form the dough into shapes, then eat.
KOOL-AID® PLAY DOUGH
1/2 cup salt 2 cups water 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 2 cups flour 2 tablespoons alum 1 envelope unsweetened Kool-Aid®, any color/flavor desired
Boil salt in water until salt is dissolved. Add Kool-Aid®, vegetable oil, flour and alum. Knead or process until smooth. Keeps for two months or longer.
NO-COOK PLAY DOUGH
1 cup salt 1 cup flour 1 tablespoon vegetable oil Food color or Wonder Colors, if desired Water
Mix dry ingredients; add oil. Add food coloring to water. Slowly add water until desired consistency is reached.
PLAY DOUGH I
3 cups water 1 cups salt 2 tablespoons Crisco® 3 cups flour 3 tablespoons alum Food coloring or Wonder Colors
Boil water and salt to dissolve and salt. Take from heat and add alum, Crisco® and flour. Mix well. Add food coloring or Wonder Colors, if desired. Keep covered in refrigerator.
PLAY DOUGH II
1 cup flour 1/2 cup salt 2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 cup water Food coloring or Wonder Colors
Mix together flour, salt and cream of tartar. Add oil, water and coloring. Cook, stirring for 1 to 3 minutes or until thick. Knead almost immediately. Keep in an airtight container in refrigerator. This makes a nice, soft play dough and will last up to a year.
PLAY DOUGH III
2 cups flour 1/2 cup salt 1 tablespoon alum 1 tablespoon liquid shortening
Mix together, then bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add food color or Wonder Colors, if desired, then pour over flour mixture and stir. It will be lumpy. Knead thoroughly as soon as it is cool enough to handle. Keep in airtight container when not in use. Stays nice for a long time.
PLAY-DOH
1 cup flour 1/2 cup salt 1 cup water 2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 teaspoon vegetable oil Food coloring
Mix together all ingredients and cook for 3 minutes over low heat. Stir well. Add food coloring. Store in a plastic container. Kids love it and it is easier to clean up.
RUBBERY PLAY DOUGH
2 cups baking soda 1 1/2 cups water 1 cup cornstarch
Mix with a fork until smooth. Boil over medium heat until thick. Spoon onto plate.
UNCOOKED PLAY DOUGH
1 cup cold water 1 cup salt 2 teaspoons vegetable oil 3 cups flour 2 tablespoons cornstarch Tempera paint or food coloring
Mix water, salt, oil and enough paint to make bright colors. Gradually work flour and cornstarch to consistency of bread dough.
